In search of the perfect grilled chicken, we’ve definitely tried many variations. Be it the classic English oven-grilled chicken with herbs or the Spanish version on the barbeque grill, coated with hot sauce and paprika. While we’re at that, we recently tried the bold African flavours of Galito’s flame grilled chicken that recently launched in eCurve, Mutiara Damansara.
A little back story – South African Galito’s was founded by Louis Germishuys in 1996 and the first store was opened in Mpumalanga City of Nelspruit. Today, there are over 150 Galito’s restaurants in 15 countries across four continents, including its two Malaysian outlets at eCurve and Subang Parade.
Galito’s has concluded that the bold flavours of Africa works best in flame-grilled chicken, and the South African franchise marinates the chicken in a secret blend of herbs for 24 hours before flame-grilling it to perfection. Everything on Galito’s extensive menu is also priced very appropriately, which is always a bonus.
For starters, we tried one of the signature appetisers – the liver and port roll. Liver may not be for everyone, but paired with the soft port roll, strong flavours of the creamy and rich chicken liver are balanced out nicely.
Moving on to one of Galito’s most recommended dishes, the GaliBowl features rather distinctive Mediterranean flavours, combining the spice of Opporto Rice with chicken cubes, spinach and not forgetting the signature Sishebo sauce that brings out a multi-dimensional taste to the dish.
Here in Galito’s, the classic take on a healthier twist with a grilled chicken breast patty paired with toasted buns, a light mayo-dip and some greens. We had ours with sweet potato chips on the side and wouldn’t have it any other way. Crisp on the outside and perfectly mashed to the core, the sweet potato fries are freshly prepared and uber satisfying.
Galito’s star dish is no doubt its flame-grilled chicken as the tender yet juicy poultry is bursting with flavours. Of course, the flame-grilled chicken goes with your choice of heat in the form of Galito’s peri-peri sauce that comes in four selections – Lemon & Herb, Mild, Hot and Extra Hot and the Garlic sauce.
Redefining the fast food experience, Galito’s flame-grilled chicken is quoted at RM15.90 for a decent meal of a quarter chicken paired with a side of your choice. Perfect for sharing, the half chicken with two sides is priced at RM25.90 whereas a whole chicken with four sides is priced RM50.90.
If you think that the list of offerings stops there, Galito’s welcomes you to discover its comprehensive menu that showcases other choices of wraps, pitas, spice rice and also a kid-friendly menu with meatball pasta or chicken nuggets with fries.
Galito’s operates from 10am to 10pm daily so head over to get a taste of some bold African flavours in Galito’s eCurve, located at G02-G03. For enquiries or updates, do contact 03-6211-0503 or visit Galito’s on Facebook and Instagram. Alternatively, access here to find your nearest Galito’s.
