Ever wonder what it’s like touring a museum off operating hours? Slated to kick off by the end of 2018, those in Malaysia will be able to go on an artistic and historical adventure with the Department of Museums Malaysia (JMM)’s Amazing Museums By Night programme – a night trail of Kuala Lumpur’s most iconic museums.
Inspired by the 2005 Night at the Museum programme, the night tour is a collaboration with the National Department for Culture and Arts and the Malaysian Inbound Tourism Association. Elevating the capital’s night tourism scene to another level, the novel experience promises to redefine your typical nightlife.
Commencing in November and December 2018, the night tour will be held on the first and third Saturday of both months, comprising visits to the National Textile Museum, Royal Museum and National Museum. Travel back in time as you learn about the culture, customs and history of our country throughout the years.
The Amazing Museums By Night trail is set to begin at 8pm and it is to be wrapped up at 11pm on the aforementioned dates, and before winding up the night visit at the National Museum, visitors will also be treated to cultural dances and a Joget Lombak performance.
For those who wish to visit the museum but often miss the operating hours, here’s your chance. You’re probably picturing exhibits coming to life like the Hollywood fantasy-comedy trilogy Night at The Museum, but we assure you that it’s nothing like that (at least we hope not)!
