Who would have thought they’d come up with something so brilliant?!
The infamous Namewee is back at it again with yet another music video, but this time, unlike his previous works that were always mangled in controversy, it’s everything and more Malaysians could ever hope for, especially at a time like this and the up and coming 60th Merdeka celebrations.
In collaboration with newcomer Aniq and Malaysian icon David Arumugam of the Alleycats, the trio delivers a harmonising message of enduring friendships that trumps race, religion and culture. The touching music video depicts a story of three misfits born on Merdeka Day 60 years ago, only to forge a friendship that lasts a lifetime.
The meaningful and moving lyrics read, “Ali, Ah Kao and Muthu bersama, Kawan selama-lamanya, Satu hati, satu jiwa, Kita semua rakyat Malaysia, Tak kira darah dan warna, Hanya satu impian satu negara.” In English, it translates to Ali, Ah Kao and Muthu together, makes forever friends, one heart, one soul, we are all Malaysians, regardless of blood or colour, there’s only one dream and one country.
“Ali AhKao Dan Muthu” is produced by Peter Chong and Namewee, who also directed, composed and wrote the track. If you’re Malaysian who is constantly jaded over race-related disputes and wallows in negativity from being an unhappy citizen, this video is a must-watch.
