If you’re in love with the music scene as much as we are, then we’re pretty sure that you’ve heard some dabbling of distortions (aka dubstep) by producers and DJs in recent times. Dubstep has now become a worldwide phenomenon, almost like an epidemic, and there’s only one heart-thumping duo guilty for the uncontrollable spread.
Skream & Benga’s story began at the corner into a new millennium in Croydon when they were just teeny tiny little teenagers. They both worked at “Big Apple Records”, stocking and selling UK garage, two-step, and drum and bass.
It was during that time of trying to earn some extra pocket money that they met and fell into a crew of vinyl-hunting DJs and producers, who mixed wobbly bass lines and syncopated rhythms to create music for themselves.
Ah hah!
Then a new, emerging scene was born and 10 years later, the genre’s sub-audible frequencies past the underground scene to a large number of dance music fans. At only 25 years of age, both Skream and Benga are the proud pioneers of a sound that’s broken through to mainstream success. They are, otherwise, known as the “Godfathers of Dubstep”:
