Most Millennials Don’t Use Tinder For Sex Or Love

There used to be a time when online dating was stigmatized as a last ditch effort from lonely, socially awkward people seeking romance, but that is no longer the case in 2017, as online dating sites like Match.com, eHarmony, Zoosk, and OkCupid have become commonplace, especially amongst millennials.

However, no online dating platform has caused more of a stir recently than Tinder, probably because the app caters to those who aren’t looking for serious relationships that traditional dating sites tend to offer.

Apparently, a study by LendEdu looked into how often people actually meet up with their Tinder matches, and the result is.. unexpectedly comforting.

When the survey asked, “Have you ever met up with someone off Tinder?”, shockingly, 70% of the participants responded that they have never even bothered to go on a date with a match. Pretty mind-boggling, right? The study also found that the large majority of us aren’t on the app to find love or a quick hookup. In fact, most of us like to go on Tinder for a good, old-fashioned confidence boost.

Well, it kinda makes sense, don’t you think?

You open Tinder on a particularly shitty day, match with a bunch of hot peeps you wouldn’t even strike up a conversation with irl, get showered with compliments and attention, and then, you log right out when you’re back to feeling like the confident alpha woman you are.

Anyone who owns a phone would know how risky the app can be, so why bother looking for a serious connection when you can just have fun texting with randos? Looks like Tinder is nothing more than the modern-day, app version of an ego booster.
