As we all know, one of the best parts of the Disney live-action trend is reconciling our favourite childhood songs through re-imagined settings. But that won’t be the case with the live-action version of Mulan.
Vulture has reported that Director Niki Caro has opted out from making Mulan a musical. Sean Bailey, the president of Motion Picture Production at Walt Disney Studios, described the film by saying: “Mulan is clearly an empowered-female story but we can also do something new in this reimagining, make it a little more muscular, stronger, with touch of Ridley Scott.”
Which left a lot of people on the internet who have been waiting for the live-action film like this.

Vulture also writes that sources close to the project report that the movie “is not expected to prominently feature songs,” although they point out that this detail could change as filming progresses.
It’s definitely hard to imagine Mulan without anticipating “Reflection,” or “I’ll Make a Man Out Of You,” so here’s to us, hopefully getting some covers of those hits on the soundtrack. Or the deleted musical scenes #wishfulthinking. I mean, what’s a Disney Princess classic without singing? It’s practically unheard of.
Guess we’d have to wait to see how the movie pans out when it hits cinemas.
