Looks like model and aspiring actress, Samantha Katie James has made a really good choice when she returned to the pageant scene for the second time, as the unique Chinese-Brazilian beauty was crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2017 at the Gala Night event held at The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
Despite her difficult childhood, the 23-year-old winner who was often bullied in school is determined to prove everyone wrong, and she did. Samantha has walked the runways internationally, appeared in TV commercials, and acted in an Indonesian and Chinese film production.
The 170 cm tall model was defeated in the final round of the Miss Universe Malaysia 2013 pageant, but that didn’t stop her dreams of becoming number one.
Grew up in Klang, Samantha believes herself to be a true Malaysian. Nothing interests her more than learning new languages, as she has now mastered four different languages. One of the ambitious model’s dream is to start a talk show, and become famous by that.
Samantha will represent Malaysia at the Miss Universe pageant to be held in the later part of 2017. Additionally, she will also receive a cash prize of RM50,000 by Miss Universe Malaysia Organization, RM2,000 cash by main sponsor, senZues and other sponsored prizes worth over RM150,000.
The final results of the Miss Universe Malaysia 2017 competition are (Winner) Samantha Katie James, (1st runner-up) Dana Low, (2nd runner-up) Ollemadthee Kunasagaran and (3rd runner-up) Laura Simon. Subsidiary titles were awarded to the following finalists, (Miss Beautiful Skin by senZues) Erica Tan, (Miss Naza Maserati Elegance) Sonia Naidu, (Miss Glamorous Eyes by Bausch + Lomb) Erica Tan.
