Athleisure is the new casual and its booming popularity has chiselled out a niche for itself in the fashion industry, further blurring the lines between performance wear and your daily wardrobe. The widespread deviation to a highlight on health and fitness may have contributed to its prevalence, but it is easy to see why this unique hybrid is dominating everywhere.
The fusion of business casual and sportswear allows for durability and comfort in an effortlessly versatile way, and with other properties like odour and wrinkle resistance, an increasing number of consumers are flocking toward this new clothing category, which is now considered acceptable in many social situations and even at the workplace.
And while a multitude of activewear brands are striving hard to make seasonal trends happen so we can look good, only a handful have been able to deliver in terms of form and function, because actually working out is just as significant. With that in mind, Nike’s new Zonal Strength Tights rises to the top as one ideal example.
The new performance leggings by Nike is complemented with a highly apt campaign – The Right Tights – that’s concepted, created and cast by British singer-songwriter FKA Twigs who oozes a captivating cool and clearly personifies diversity, which precisely gives away what the leggings are about.
The Right Tights campaign cast 12 athletes from unconventional fitness backgrounds and with exceptional personal styles, and amongst them include Saskia Horton who does krumping as a street dance, Jay Kirton, a karate world champion who is also passionate about meditation, and track and field runner English Gardner.
The rationale behind this is that it showcases the versatility of the Zonal Strength Tights as being all-encompassing regardless of the type of athletic activity or level of intensity. Efficiency is evidently key, especially for professional athletes who desire to get the most out of their workouts, and these tights offer just that.
To experience first-hand the innovations behind these tights, we were recently invited for an exclusive trial session with Malaysian gymnast Farah Ann and her trainer, whereby we were given a little teaser into the way professional athletes train and a deeper insight as to how the Zonal Strength Tights enhances workouts. Here’s what we love about them:
The fishnet imprint on the Zonal Strength Tights serve as compression zones that are seamlessly integrated into the base fabric. These zones guarantee that the right parts of the body are compressed for the activity, and that the fundamental muscle groups are targeted for maximum effect.
In addition, these compression zones highlight the thighs and calves to effectively minimise muscle vibration, and provide boosted support and muscle awareness in the core, glutes, quads and hamstrings, on top of optimum breathability thanks to the Flyvent waistband.
The aspect of comfort cannot be compromised and although they are skintight, the Zonal Strength Tights certainly do not feel constricting and even elevates mobility especially at the knees and hips. The high-rise waistband is an added bonus that provides additional core awareness, flatters the figure, and automatically conceals unsightly lumps and bumps.
Nike’s Zonal Strength Tights for both men and women are available for purchase in stores across Malaysia or via nike.com at RM469.
