Taiwan-owned food and beverage company La Kaffa International Ltd, which is the franchisor of Chatime, is terminating its contract with Loob Holdings Sdn Bhd with immediate effect due to dispute on royalty and ingredient sources.
Malaysia is Chatime’s largest international market and Chatime will still be around in Malaysia, however all management would be assumed by La Kaffa.
Chatime entered Malaysia in 2010 and the franchise was founded in 2005. To date, there are over 800 Chatime outlets across the world.
At a press conference today, La Kaffa International Ltd also announced its plans of bringing Duan Chun Zhen beef noodles into the Malaysian market, with its first outlet slated to be open between Q2 and Q3.
There hasn’t been word on the location of the store, and we will keep you updated soon.
