Pretzel chain Auntie Anne’s was not granted a halal certificate by the Department of Islamic Development (JAKIM) for the most ridiculous reason – the ‘Pretzel Dog’ on its menu.

Essentially a sausage wrapped in pretzel (hence, Pretzel Dog, synonymous with ‘hot dog’), Auntie Anne’s management is now forced to assign a new name to the food item and is awaiting the latest feedback from JAKIM.

Once JAKIM grants Auntie Anne’s the halal certification, the pretzel chain will also be changing all its menu boards across all 45 outlets throughout Malaysia.

Seriously.. -_-
