In a rusty but trusty VW Bug, two good friends, Dan Churchill and Hayden Quinn head off on an adventure around Australia. The two blokes share a love for cooking, surfing, travel, adventure; and that’s what Surfing the Menu: Next Generation is all about.
Together, they meet passionate producers of of everything from tomatoes, cheeses, beef, goats, mangoes, herbs, exotic mushroom, shrimp, rum, salt and everything in between. Then the boys use their magic to turn these fresh ingredients into simple but delightfully delicious recipes for you.
While they’re at it, they also learn to sail, four-wheel-drive in the desert, snorkel on the Ningaloo and Great Barrier Reefs, catch mud crabs, swim with Manta Rays and prove that they’re possibly the worst fishermen in Australia.
They also share experiences with indigenous communities; like looking for native bees that nest underground, search for bush medicines and bush foods, ride horses, and surf in some beautiful locations.
Hayden Quinn, Cleo Bachelor of the Year 2012, was a former contestant on Masterchef Autralia. Since then, he’s become a household name and grown into becoming one of Australia’s (now also Malaysia’s) favourite celebrity chef.
Born and bred in Sydney, Dan Churchill grew up with a strong interest in health, cooking and education, nurtured by the interest his family took in cooking. Armed with a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Management and a Masters in Exercise Science (Strength and Conditioning), he has self-published his first cookbook, DudeFood, and also appeared on Masterchef Australia 2013.
Tune in to TLC (Astro Channel 707) on Monday, 10th October to catch these two good looking and extremely talented chefs whipping up some great recipes, while humouring you with their innate Australian wit and sarcasm.
