We wish we could wake up looking absolutely Instagram perfect, but that would only happen in a parallel universe.. Unfortunately, we probably still have to fix our hair, dab on powder and lip balm to nail the shot. The truth is, no one can wake up looking impeccable; no, not even Gigi Hadid, but here are some tips for you to get a little closer to your #IWokeUpLikeThis goals.

Sleep, sleep, sleep

We know this sounds cliche, but nothing will help you like hours of good sleep. When you give yourself 6 to 8 hours of sleep every night, there is a lower chance of you waking up with eye bags and blood shot eyes, and that results in a fresher-looking you in the morning. You will also feel more positive, and that will translate in photos.

Don’t eat after 9 pm

On average, food takes about 6 to 8 hours (coincidence?) to digest. If you eat right before bed time, your body would still be processing it, thus, leaving you lethargic in the morning. Make sure to have dinner earlier and give the body enough time to do its job, so that it is completely at rest before you hit the sack. You will wake up feeling energised and well-rested.

Remove all traces of make up

We all have those days when we just want to crash, especially when the bed looks so inviting and is literally calling out to us. But no, ladies. Even if you’re too tired to pick up a cotton pad and smear makeup remover in it, at least cleanse the skin with a quicker one-step product. The last thing you want is to wake up with dry skin and blackened panda eyes.

Change your pillow case regularly

Your pillow case plays a bigger role in your life than you think. If you constantly experience breakouts and skin irritation, it’s time to think of when you last changed your pillow case. Pillow cases collect dust and grime (and drools) over time, and your face is in contact with them every night. It won’t result in anything desirable.

Clear your head

Stress and worries often show on the face and are also the culprits behind lines and wrinkles. This is why stress management should be a part of your beauty routine. Practice yoga before bed, or better yet, meditate for at least 10 minutes before bed time. Clear your head, let go of your worries, and go to sleep with a smile on your face. You will wake up feeling like you can conquer the world!
