Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has been arrested for corruption at Komtar about 6.20 pm yesterday. About eight policemen were seen accompanying Lim out of the building.
The Penang Chief Minister will be charged on two accounts of corruption; under the Section 23 and Section 165 of the Anti-Corruption Act.
Lim is being investigated regarding the purchase of a bungalow at Pinhorn Road in Penang. The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has submitted the relevant documents to Attorney General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali. Lim could face legal action if the Attorney General is satisfied with the evidence provided. Former owner of the Pinhorn Road bungalow, Phang Li Koon, has also been arrested and will be charged in court.
People in Penang have come together in solidarity with their chief minister.
