If you don’t already know one of the best hairstyling brands ghd has recently made its way to our country, so you can now add some of the best hairstyling products to your haircare collection. When the brand came down to introduce itself as part of Sephora’s new addition, we took some time to meet and chat with Robert Resnick, the super cool head of sales and education from ghd.
Tell us more about the ghd brand
ghd is the number 1 styling brand in the UK, designed for both professional stylists and consumers. We want to ensure every woman around the world has a good hair day, every day.
What sets ghd apart from all the other hairstyling products out there?
Firstly, the performance of our products: We have products that provide superior performance for all hair types.
Game-changing innovation: We have a dedicated team of over sixty scientists based at our research and development facility in Cambridge. They have identified 185 degrees as the safer-for-hair styling temperature and developed the patented technology in our tools, such as Tri-Zone, Laminair and CoolWall, based on real consumer needs.
And finally, our award-winning product design!
With wavy and thick hair, which one of the ghd straighteners would you recommend?
That would be the latest addition to our styler range, ghd Platinum.
The exclusive-to-ghd tri-zone technology in the styler is ideal for all hair types. There are three sensors in each plate (six in total) each one maintaining a consistent and optimum hair-styling heat of 185 degrees for faster, safer styling and long-lasting results. Turning up the heat is not the key to getting the look you want and is damaging to hair.
Is ironing your hair everyday as bad as people make it out to be?
If you’re styling your hair every day, it’s essential to use ghd heat protect spray before heat styling. As all of our tools are set to the safer-for-hair styling temperature of 185 degrees, you’ll see results with incredible shine and long-lasting results.
What are the upcoming hair trends for the year 2016?
We are seeing flowing waves this season, and this has been transformed into a beautiful tuck bend. The key to this trend is to accentuate your face shape adding the tuck to open your facial features. Deep waves tucked behind the ear are also on-trend this season and designed to highlight bone structure for stunning results.
What is the best way to deal with hair that suffers in humid weather?
Always use ghd heat protect spray and ensure the hair is 100% dry before passing through with either a styler or the curve range of wands and tongs.
Share with us some of your best hair styling tips.
Always start at the front and sides, as this is the most important area, especially if you’re doing selfies! This will allow the hair to cool down whilst you’re doing the back so when you come to dressing it out, your style will last longer.
I always recommend when you first get a ghd tool to practice sectioning your hair and trying out the technique with the tool off to get used to the feel and direction of the technique, before turning it on and styling your hair.
My top tip if you’re in a rush is to tie your hair into a ponytail, then curl small sections of the hair in the ponytail. Remove the hairband, shake your head upside down and do a disco-flip (a big flip backwards) and you have instant waves! Finish with a little ghd smooth and finish serum to add polish – it’s the perfect cheat!
Hairstyling tools by ghd can now be found at all Sephora retail stores in Malaysia.
