What do you do when you want to travel the world but you JUST had a baby? Wait for a few years? Cancel the plan? Karen Edwards decided to go ahead with it without leaving her newborn behind.
10 months after their baby Esme was born, Karen Edwards and her husband Shaun Bayes decided to realise their dream of travelling the world. They sold off their car in London, rented out their house, put Esme on a baby-carrier and ventured out.
The couple and Esme have visited Ireland, Australia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, New Zealand, Taiwan and Vietnam. Although faced with many difficulties, like cramped rooms, taking turns to do activities and having to breastfeed Esme, the experience has been priceless for them.
“Esme has had so many new experiences. She’s very sociable. She really loves being outside,” Edwards said.
She has also started a travel blog, and she hopes to inspire parents all over the world to go ahead with their plans, having a baby does not mean you have to put a full stop on your travelling days. After a brief hiatus since returning home in September last year, the trio are embarking on yet another adventure to Thailand, Cambodia and New Zealand.
