Living on your own is fun because you get to do all sorts of things you couldn’t when you lived in your parents’ home. You get to eat in bed, have adult sleepovers, the list is endless. But living on your own, especially as a grown woman, does not mean you should do whatever and whenever you want. There has got to be some rules and these rules can only be of benefit to you.
Being an adult does not only mean you no longer require parental supervision but it also means you gotta keep your s**t together, especially in your home! Here are some interior no-nos you need to fix if you’re living on your own:
1. Stuffed animals – Remove all the Care Bears and My Little Pony stuffed toys off of your bed. Make some room for adult sleepovers and also, being free of stuffed toys will turn your entire bedroom look into a more mature looking space. Less is more!
2. Makeup hoarding – Yes, you use makeup and all that other stuff but he doesn’t need to know just how much. Put all the makeup clutter away in organise your products neatly in a drawer. Nothing is more chic than a clean vanity table, ladies!
3. Cheap bedsheets – You’re an adult with a good job, so splurge a little bit more than you would on some really nice, quality bedsheets. It will make you feel like an absolute queen!
4. Mismatched furniture – With mismatched furniture, one or two makes the living room look unique and stylish but too much just gives the room in your home a very confused look. And it’s also a major eyesore!
5. Inspirational quotes – Some are okay with this but I don’t favour this particular house decor move. I believe that inspirational mantras should be left in the mind and not hanging on your bedroom wall. Tacky!
