Over 14 countries have produced MasterChef worldwide and the number continues to grow. With wings spread far and wide, MasterChef is now taking aspiring Malaysian citizens under their wing in the Malaysian installment of reality entertainment, “MasterChef Malaysia”.
The localized “MasterChef Malaysia” (featuring three professional judges such Chef Johari, Chef Riz, Chef Zubir) will be produced in order to make it more suitable for our multi-races culture. Not only will the contestants be required to cook local cuisines; they will also have to face a variety of challenges which includes Italian, Spanish, Middle-East, etc.
In short, they’re looking for an all-rounder “MasterChef Malaysia”.
The competition kicks off with 40 amateur cooks aged from 18 and above who all shared to same passion for food and cooking, with intentions to start careers in the food industry. Selected through auditions held across Malaysia, they will face a series of challenges and eliminations (Bootcamp) until the contestants are reduced to the “Top 24”. These lucky contestants will then begin their journey in “MasterChef Malaysia”.
Then, through another course of challenges, the contestants will be eliminated until there are just two contestants left standing to face off in the finale. Of course, in the finale, only one outstanding contestant will be crowned the very first “MasterChef Malaysia”.
Sounds easy?
Phew. That looks like hard work! That said, who knows? We could learn a thing or two.
