For Fall 2015, Make Up For Ever unveils a new collection of collector eyeshadow palettes, the Artist-Shadows 1 and Artist-Shadows 2 palette, each featuring nine Artist Shadow shades, developed with a sensorial gel powder formula. These palettes are offered in contrasting colour combinations and both the palettes help women express themselves in very different ways.
On the days your adventurous soul is speaking out to you, don’t be afraid to go bold with colourful eye makeup available in the Artist-Shadows 2 palette. For a delicate look or a smouldering smokey eye, the Artist-Shadows 1 palette offers a myriad of gorgeous nudes that would complement many skin tones.
Let’s take a closer look at the neutral Artist-Shadows 1 palette. A must-have palette for every eyeshadow beginner, this timeless palette combines stunning warm and nude shades to adapt to different eye colours. There are lighter champagne shades, bronzy golds, taupe mauves and even a black shade included for endless eye looks you can possibly create.
Even though these eyeshadows aren’t as smooth and buttery as we’d like, the eyeshadows are very pigmented, don’t give off any fallout and they are very buildable. Take a closer look at the light-handed swatches above and you’ll notice that the pigment is considerably sheer. The more you pack on the colour, the more vibrant these shades will look on the eyes.
Here, we’ve created a slightly smokey bronzed eye look with the Make Up For Ever Artist-Shadows 1 palette that’s ideal for work during the day, or play during night time. When applying these eyeshadows, we found that synthetic brushes or fingers worked the best and packed on the most pigment. With natural bristle brushes, it gets difficult to pick up colour from the palette.
Here’s a closer look at the eyeshadow combination we’ve created. For a breakdown on the exact colours used from the Artist-Shadows 1 palette, refer to the image below!
After priming our eyelids, we dusted a shimmery champagne shade all over the eyelids up until the brow bone area as a base and for a light wash of colour. Then, we used a densely packed bristle brush to work the taupe mauve colour into the crease for some added definition. After blending it out slightly to get rid of harsh edges, we then packed on a champagne gold shade mixed with a little of the crease colour all over the lid. Finally, we added some drama by darkening the outer V of the eyes with a slightly cool-toned grey taupe shade.
We’ve been testing out the palette for a few weeks now and have fallen in love with it. These eyeshadows are long lasting and they don’t budge or smudge. We also love the variety of finishes that the shades come with. Some of them are more metallic, some have a satin finish or a pearly sheen whereas others have a frosted finish. A few of these colours also look a little duo-chrome in certain lights, and we’re very impressed.
