Yesterday evening, we had the opportunity to catch a beautiful bilingual musical production led by a star-studded singing cast such as our very own Malaysian sweetheart, Tiara Jacquelina, and Broadway’s Ryan Silverman. From the producer of the award-winning “Puteri Gunung Ledang the Musical” and “P. Ramlee the Musical”, Enfiniti Vision Media and avid supporter of homegrown productions, Maxis Berhad, made it possible for “The Secret Life of Nora” to come to life, under the close watch of West End’s director, Steven Dexter.
We’re not sure where to start with our praises – it was truly this year’s most anticipated productions, with the attendance of 22,000 threatre-goers since its opening on the 29th of September. The cast and ensemble was said to have had the honour of performing in front of His and Her Royal Highness, the King and Queen of Malaysia, as well as our Deputy Prime Minister and his wife.
But enough with the formalities.
The musical is set in glitzy and glamorous 1960s Malaya, where two of the most unlikely people (Tiara Jacquelina and Ryan Silverman) find themselves bound together by a mission to eradicate the threat of an evil operation. We then witness how popular but slightly prima donna-ish Nora (Tiara Jacquelina) is pulled out of her sheltered world by suave and extremely handsome Roger Foss (Ryan Silverman). Roger needed a secret agent, Nora fit the part:
Together, through some turbulence and a lot of laughs, they set out and get immersed in a world where missions need completing, contraptions need destroying, and baddies need capturing. In their plight to seek and rescue, ultimately, they find each other. Aaww!
As cheesy as it may sound, “The Secret Life of Nora” was astounding! Through our eyes, it has definitely set the bar for and changed the face of Malaysian productions forever. And we hear that the cast and crew have been receiving numerous requests for more, so much so that the show will now be extended beyond its original final show date.
Yes, it’s true! “The Secret Life of Nora” will perform for additional nights on the 20th, 21st, and 22nd October 2011. So here’s your chance to catch it! An original storyline, beautiful melodies, and amazing dance moves by highly talented stars (and the very good looking Ryan Silverman)? Why not?
