All throughout the months of August and September, Silverfish Books will be hosting the Silverfish Festival of Cabbages, every Saturday and Sunday between 5pm to 7.30pm at its new location in Bangsar Village II.
In support of Malaysia’s independent cultural scene, Silverfish Festival of Cabbages is a platform for anyone eager to seek knowledge and intellect, as well as have honest conservations on anything. Those interested can be part of a great line-up of discussions.
Saidah Rastam, a Malaysian musician, will talk about her research on her book Rosalie and the history of Malaysian music. Susan Philips, a lecturer at University of Malaya will discuss a paper she’s written on PopTeeVee’s online web-series That Effing Show, and a leading Malay writer from Singapore, Isa Kamari, will talk about the Malay writing scene.
Kannan Menon will have his plays staged by Malaysian actors, while Rumaizah Abu Bakar will speak about the experiences as a travel writer. On top of that, children’s book author, Heidi Shamsuddin, will discuss her research on her recent books that delve into fictionalising Malaysian history.
