For those who didn’t know, Paper Towns is originally a book, written by the author of The Fault In Our Stars, John Green. The film was recently released but we’d highly recommend that you to read the book first. This is a fun book is about a high school student named Quentin, who is in search for his neighbour and love interest, Margo Roth Spiegelman, who disappears. Margo leaves clues for Quentin to uncover, so Quentin, alongside his friends will embark on a journey of self discovery to find the missing girl.
2. Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson
Since You’ve Been Gone is about two very different best friends, the introverted Emily and the outgoing Sloane. One day, Sloane disappears and left Emily a to-do list. Emily submits to Sloane’s list, in hopes that it will lead her to her best friend. The tasks given by Sloane throws Emily out of her comfort zone, requiring her to get over her fears and reach out to more people.
3. Wild by Cheryl Strayed
After the death of her mother and the end of her marriage, Cheryl thought she had lost everything at the age of 22. Four years later, with nothing to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life. She decided to hike more than a thousand miles off the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington alone, without any experience or training. Wild was adapted into a film in 2014, starring Reese Witherspoon.
4. Beauty Queens by Libba Bray
Beauty Queens revolves around a group of contestants in the Miss Teen Dream Pageant. The girls thought this was going to be a fun trip to the beach, where they could parade in their state-appropriate costumes and compete in front of the cameras. But sadly, their airplane had another idea, crashing on a desert island and leaving the survivors stranded with little food, little water, and practically no eyeliner. What’s a beauty queen to do? This book will make you laugh, think, and make you never see beauty the same way again.
