Korean sheet masks have long been a staple in many women’s skincare regimes everywhere. These sheet masks are convenient to use and they provide quick, visible results. While sheet masks are wonderful, Korean hydrogel facial masks have been making waves lately in the Malaysian market.
These masks, produced by Korean brand Faith in Face, were first introduced in Korea in year 2012. Unlike regular sheet masks, these masks contain a high percentage of water-soluble ingredients, offering hydration for up to 40 minutes. Formulated with only organic and naturally derived extracts, the hydrogel masks also cool down the skin for rejuvenation.
The Faith in Face Hydrogel Mask series come in five variants:
After Shower Look – Soothing & Moisturising Hydrogel Mask
Black & White Film Star – Whitening Hydrogel Mask
Hold Me Tight – Lifting & Firming Hydrogel Mask
Miss Invisible Pore – Pore Tightening Hydrogel Mask
Nourish Me – Nourishing Hydrogel Mask
The first thing that caught my eyes about the Faith in Face hydrogel masks is the packaging. Albeit similar to that of Soap & Glory’s, the vintage and retro packaging really is appealing. Every type of face mask comes in a packaging with a different design and that really draws the attention of beauty junkies like myself.
Once you tear open the packaging, each hydrogel mask comes in two pieces, one for the top half of the face, and one for the bottom half. Having separate pieces may be unnecessary, but this makes the mask adhere to the contours of the face extra well and I really liked that.
Once removed from the packaging, regular sheet masks tend to drip essence everywhere and putting them on can get messy. I had no such problem with the hydrogel masks. The essence is contained within the hydrogel itself, so nothing drips off. The hydrogel masks feel like a thin layer of jelly and they are perfectly comfortable to wear.
With regular sheet masks, the wear time would be about 15 minutes. With hydrogel masks, the recommended wear time is 30 minutes. I was a little sceptical about that as I’ve experienced tons of sheet masks literally drying up on my skin. However, after 30 minutes with it on, the hydrogel mask still felt moist.
Once I took the mask off, my skin felt plump, nourished and hydrated. I used the mask at night and the next morning, my skin was still glowing and looking radiant. To my surprise, those results lasted for one or two days after. Makeup applied much smoother on my skin and my complexion looked very healthy.
To be honest, I never expected these masks to perform that well, but they certainly have. I don’t know if these masks work exactly as the packaging claims, but they are truly nourishing and for me, these hydrogel masks are definitely game changers.
Faith in Face hydrogel masks are priced at RM11.90 each and all the variants are now available in more than 150 major Watsons outlets in Malaysia.
