A handful of high school students, all under the age of 15, are making international headlines with their revolutionary smart condom which features a built-in indicator that causes the rubber to light up the second it comes into contact with STIs.
The indicator on the S.T.EYE condom is made from small molecules that attach to an array of viruses and different colours represent different diseases. For instance, if the condom is used by someone with chlamydia, a neon green glow might show up.
Even though you wouldn’t be able to pick this up any time soon, this is radical news for the birth control department. Always practice safe sex and in the meantime, check for STIs with a test from the doctor!
