St Ali is widely known as the front runners in the Melbourne coffee scene, decided that after other successful cafe takeovers in Jakarta and Seoul, us Malaysians should also have a delicious look into their caffeinated culture. Organised by Tourism Victoria, these efforts are meant to spread the awareness of Melbourne’s world renowned cafe lifestyle, by serving up some of the tasty brews the Australian city is famous for. At a local Melbourne-inspired cafe, Garage 51, one of St Ali’s expert baristas, Matt Perger was able to show off his skills and entertain the crowd with a variety of brews. He mentioned his pleasant surprise at the rising interest in specialty coffee in Malaysia, and agreed that our country’s collaboration with Tourism Victoria was a perfect fit.
Beyond the cafe takeover, St Ali’s Malaysian tour also held educational workshops, lead by Matt Perger, about the growing popularity of coffee culture around the world. There were even hands-on courses on how to create the perfect cup of fragrant and delicious coffee. Certainly, Malaysians are hankering for high-quality coffee brews, and St Ali’s influence will definitely help our cafe culture grow.
