At only 22 years of age, entrepreneur Ahmad Ghanem is already making waves in the hijab industry, and is looking to revolutionize the lives of millions of Muslim women. In a powerful Kickstarter campaign video, he describes how our technology has let us produce clothing than can aid athletes, survive fires, and even allow us to go into outer space, so why not have better options for Muslim women?
His plan is to make comfortable and climate-adjusting hijabs for women who make the commitment to wear them everyday, no matter the weather. In only a few weeks, Ghanem’s company has been able to raise $20,000 (four times more than his initial goal!), proving that the demand is definitely there for functional and adaptable headscarves.
The fabrics used for the hijabs are completely waterproof, and also repel sweat. It will also keep you 7-10 degrees cooler no matter how hot it is, and protect you from harmful UV rays. Each headscarf is cut neatly with lasers to get smooth edges, and is made from 100 percent nylon for less wrinkling. For those interested in purchasing, you can pre-order Veil’s products from their Kickstarter page until June 20th, afterwards Veil is hoping to expand to retailers soon.
We can only imagine how much this idea will grow once they gain enough attention, so if you’re loving Veil’s vison as much as we are, consider donating to the rising company here.
