ZALORA, one of Asia’s most popular destinations for online shopping, has just debuted a new collection via a chic fashion festival. The event revealed their latest collections for Raya, which had numerous collaborations from high fashion local designers such as Syomir Izwa, Bella Ammara, Sugarscarf, Fazura, and even ZALORA’s ZALIA label, which features Muslimah clothing. The fashion show’s glamorous venue was held at the JW Marriott Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

The show opened with the Fazbulous Raya 2015 Collection, named Seri Panggung, which unveiled designs that were inspired by popular Malaysian actress Fazura, which featured embellished and elegant designs that were similar to wardrobe she donned for her past roles.

ZALIA made a sophisticated debut, with designs that used the 19th century Adolph Menzel’s painting ‘The Supper at the Ball. The muslimah designs were full with royal elegance along seamlessly passed contemporary touches. The in-house collection has made a marvellous use of intricate embroideries and lace, bringing a glamorously edgy feel all around.

Designers such as Bella Ammara and Sugarscarf were inspired by modest 60’s and 70’s designs along with bringing a modern twist. Fabrics such as como crepe and tweed were frequently used to bring a sense of comfort and style to the collection. The application of the ultra-feminine Madison Beads collection by Sugarscarf, were to the embrace the demure of the modern Muslim Woman.

The show was closed by the Syomir Izwa’s designs for ZALORA’s Eid 2015 collection. There were inspirations from the colourful “Nyonya Peranakan” culture, along with the “Anak Mami” style, which truly embrace the essence of Malaysian culture. The use of striking colours and Penang’s vibrant heritage was an integral part of these pieces, proving that muslimah fashion still has a relevant place in today’s fashion industry.
