Founded during their university years in Cyberjaya in the year 2012, Monoriff is a Malaysian alternative electropop duo that has been making waves at various popular entertainment venues in the Klang Valley.
Besides opening Music Republic, a charity event sponsored by TuneTalk, Monoriff was also a finalist for Laundry Bar’s YouTube to You “Live” Sing-Off Finale. In February 2015, the duo released their first single, “Killing Your Own”, on YouTube.
Comprising of 25-year-old Rakesh Joshua Daniel and 26-year-old Niralji Ravishanker, the duo often play their own written songs and this has helped them discover their signature musical style. Over time, Monoriff began to transition from rock to electropop and their musical journey has been an educational one thus far.
Since then, the duo has connected with local talents via competitions and public gigs, and this has ultimately fuelled the birth of “Killing Your Own”. The single explores the complexities of relationships, harmonised with an über catchy dance tempo.
Currently, Monoriff is working on their upcoming six-track album, Louve, which can be expected in the third quarter of 2015. Now, do enjoy the duo’s first single, “Killing Your Own”:
