Adding curls can make all the difference in a woman’s appearance. However, this sometimes can be challenging, especially when it comes to curling hair at the back of the head. Understanding this struggle amongst many women, Philips then developed the Easy Natural Curler.
With a unique Tulip shape, this curler enables you to create gorgeous and effortless curls with one simple step. Using innovative clip and curl plates to automatically hold the lock of hair while styling, it allows you to curl your hair with just one hand, even at the back of the head.
Specially designed to prevent accidental brushes and burns, the styling plates are also coated with protective ceramic to ensure even heat distribution for shiny and soft hair. To minimise the chances of hair damage, the tool only heats up to a professional temperature of 200°C.
Thanks to our friends at Philips Malaysia, I got to try out the Easy Natural Curler. Scroll down to find out my thoughts on the new hair styling tool:
Pros
I have experimented with the Easy Natural Curler for a few weeks now and I must say that it is indeed a versatile hair styling tool. Even though it is advertised as a hair curling tool, the Easy Natural Curler also straightens hair very well. This makes the Easy Natural Curler the perfect two-in-one tool for beginners who do not wish to invest too much money in a separate hair curler and straightener.
Even though the curler only comes in one barrel size, it still allows me to create a variety of different curl styles. It all depends on how the tool is angled and how it is twisted, towards or away from my face. Besides creating beachy waves, I have also tried crimping my hair with the tool and creating more uniform, romantic curls.
For someone who is very prone to little accidents like myself, the Easy Natural Curler is a lifesaver. Its tulip shape keeps the plates hidden on the inside and this makes sure that I never accidentally burn myself, unless I were to stick my finger into the slit in between the plates. Having said that, the slit is so thin, making it difficult for anyone to stick their finger in.
Additionally, its ergonomic design makes it easy to grip onto while styling the hair. The slim, lightweight design also makes the Easy Natural Curler ideal for travelling.
Cons
When using the Easy Natural Curler, I noticed that there was no blinking light or indicator to let me know once it was heated completely and was ready to be used. Even though it states on the box that the curler only takes 30 seconds to heat up, it really bugged me as I didn’t know how long I should be waiting and if it really was heated thoroughly after 30 seconds.
Another thing I am not too fond of is that the curler only comes with one heat setting at 200°C. I understand that this ideal temperature would help minimise hair damage, but I believe that we should still be given a choice. With various temperature settings, the Easy Natural Curler would be able to do so much more.
Even with the ideal heat setting at 200°C, I find that the curls don’t last very long compared to other hair curling tools I have used in the past. I like curling my hair the night before and setting it with a little bit of hairspray so that the curls would look more natural the next day, but I found that most of the curls were gone by the time I woke up the next morning.
Aside from that, the thin slit in between the hair curling plates makes it difficult to curl a lot of hair at one time. For those with very thick hair like myself, it can get very time-consuming for me to curl all of my hair.
Finally, the Easy Natural Curler definitely isn’t dummy proof as it takes some practice and getting used to. As mentioned above, different twisting techniques and angles would result in different curl styles. However, not everyone is well-versed with these hair curling techniques and they might fail the first few times trying to use the Easy Natural Curler.
