Ed Sheeran’s supportive fans have helped him become only the second artist to reach 2 billion Spotify streams. One stream equals one listen, which means Sheeran’s songs have been played 2 billion times.
Eminem, Spotify’s most popular musician, was the first to achieve that milestone this year. The next artist who is the closest to 2 billion streams is David Guetta.
Named Spotify’s most streamed artist in 2014, Sheeran’s sophomore album, x, also was 2014’s top streamed album, with 430 million streams since debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 200 in June.
Some of his most popular songs on Spotify include “Thinking Out Loud,” “Don’t,” “I See Fire,” “Sing” and “Photograph.”
