What better way to start your day or weekend than with a hefty brunch and some good company. Lately, there have been a plethora of chic brunch spots that’s opened their doors and making a name for themselves. Thanks to their good food that complements the city’s vibrant energy, these places will have you coming back for more.
So, if you’re looking to brunch with family or friends sometime soon, why not try one of these six venues in KL?
Nutmeg
If you have never been to Nutmeg, you really should make your way down there as soon as you can because this place is all that it’s cracked up to be, and more! Prior going to Nutmeg, I had already heard good comments and every time I passed by, the entire place seems to be packed with customers. There’s a good reason for that because the food served is absolutely delightful. The home-style decor of the cafe makes it very comfortable to relax and just enjoy the food. They have quite an extensive brunch menu, so make sure you head on there when hungry!
Nutmeg is located at UGF-28A Bangsar Village II, 2 Jalan Telawi Satu, Bangsar. For more info, visit their website or Facebook page.
Pickle & Fig
Winner of the Time Out Kuala Lumpur Food Award 2014 for Best Healthy Eats, Pickle & Fig is really owning the independent cafe scene with their very well-cooked food that seems to have people coming back for more, including myself. The decor of this place is very DIY, thanks to owners Pang and Ken, who based the entire scheme on a “reusable and communal” theme. I you’ve heard of Pickle & Fig, you would have also heard of their famous Rotkraut Pastrami Panini, which we can attest to. So, if you’re in TTDI, make sure you pop by this place for some delicious grub.
Pickle & Fig is located at 26, Jalan Tun Mohd Fuad 2, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail. For more info, visit their website and Facebook page.
The Red Beanbag
At The Red Beanbag, you’re guaranteed good food and friendly staff. Pretty much two of the most important things about a restaurant that will keep customers coming back for more. They also take their coffee and poached eggs very seriously, which is why you can expect the best of both right at their venue. Using quality local produce as the main star, their brunch menu allows for some pretty creative breakfast dishes that you will be tempted to try. If you’re looking for something sweet to the taste, try their pancakes with maple syrup! It’s guaranteed to satisfy!
Red Beanbag is located in Publika Shopping Gallery at A4-1-08, Solaris Dutamas, Jalan Dutamas 1. For more info, visit their website or Facebook page.
Yeast Bistronomy
Mention brunch and Yeast is usually one of the suggestions made. Since they opened their doors in December 2012, this quaint little cafe has attracted some of Malaysia’s high-profiled customers, which can only mean that the food here is superb. The decor of this bistro matches that of a classic Parisian food places. In Malaysia you will find that at most times the floor staff aren’t very well-versed with the menu but that’s not the case at Yeast. It’s pleasant to know that the staff here have an extensive knowledge of the menu and all the items on it. If you’re looking for something truly authentic and french, then head on to Yeast. Plus, their desserts are to die for!
Yeast Bistronomy is located at 24G Jalan Telawi 2, Bangsar. For more info, visit their website or Facebook page.
The Grumpy Cyclist
Yet another charming venue in TTDI on the list, The Grumpy Cyclist boasts a certain charm. Something about this bicycly-themed place that feels very “at home” and relaxing. Perhaps it’s the fact that cyclists that pass through can stop by for some food and showers (for free!). To go with their coffee, The Grumpy Cyclist offers a pretty impressive breakfast and lunch menu, which includes scrumptious pancakes, big breakfast, and more. If you want something that will totally blow your mind, try their Crespella chocolate chip pancakes. Trust me when I say, you will be coming back for more.
The Grumpy Cyclist is located at 36, Jalan Datuk Sulaiman, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail. For more info, visit their website or Facebook page.
