4 Hair Washing Mistakes You’re Making

Everybody wants beautiful hair. Being a woman, one of the ultimate struggles (besides that monthly monster that pays us all a visit) is trying to maintain the kind of hair we desire.

If only it was as easy as shampooing and conditioning one’s hair, but it’s not. You may not realise it but you may have made some mistakes when washing your locks, so to make your hair more manageable, fuller and more beautiful, why not take in some of these hair-washing tweaks:

Forgetting about the conditioner – By right, you should be using conditioner every time you wash your hair, especially if you want shiny locks. The purpose of conditioner is that it helps cut down on friction and breakage when you’re combing your hair later on. Did you know that you can even use conditioner to wash your hair without using the shampoo and your hair will remain looking and feeling nice.

Shower with cold water – We know everybody loves rinsing themselves with warm water and it sure does help your hair’s cuticle open up, which means the shampoo and conditioner is able to work effectively. But once you’re almost done with your shower, end it with a cold rinse. This helps close the cuticles and seal in all that moisture goodness from your conditioner.

Over-washing your hair – Believe it or not, there is such thing. According to experts, your hair looks best when the natural oils that start in your scalp is able to reach the ends. That’s why it’s recommended to wash your hair once every two days instead of drying it out by washing it every day. Plus, there’s always dry shampoo to keep your hair looking grease-free.

Rinsing your hair too much – If you have coloured hair, you might want to re-think doing this. And also avoid using hot water as it will make the colour in your hair run. To maintain your dyed hair, try washing your hair with cold or lukewarm water instead.
