Good news, Android users! Y’all can finally make voice calls on WhatsApp! For those of you using iOS, you’re just going to have to wait because your time will come eventually.
This quiet but undeniably major update has been teasing a lot of people for months as the update only selected some WhatsApp users, but now it seems as though it’s available to all.
The latest version of the very popular messaging app offers a cleaner, brand-new look with three tabs for Contacts, Chats and Calls. It’s pretty easy to make a call, all you gotta do is hit the Calls tab, choose the person you want to speak to and start talking!
The update has yet to be confirmed by the company but it is definitely available on Google Play Store or on WhatsApp’s official website. You should keep in mind that the new feature is still a bit patchy so be patient. WhatsApp’s cofounder Brian Acton mentioned at F8 that this new nifty feature will be made available to Apple devices in a “couple weeks.”
