Always one to make headlines, Rihanna does it again and this time she is making history by being the first black woman ever to be the face of Dior.
The 27-year-old singer from Barbados will star in Dior’s fourth instalment of their Secret Garden campaign, which is a series that features model in Dior creations, posing in the palace of Versailles. The fashion house confirmed the news last Friday and Rihanna is set to be shot by famous photographer Steven Klein. The film and print versions of the upcoming campaign is slated to be ready for spring.
The Dior partnership came as no surprise as Rihanna is often seen on the red carpets dressed in beautiful fashion pieces. Always flawlessly dressed, Rihanna is a staple at Dior’s shows and other high-fashion brands.
In November last year, Tom Ford expressed his feelings about the Barbadian superstar in his own blog post, saying:
“I was at the CFDA awards as I was receiving a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ …. and I have to say that Rihanna was for me, that night, one of the most beautiful women that I have ever beheld. As [my husband] Richard said plainly after the evening, ‘If you are as beautiful as Rihanna, you almost owe it to the world to appear in public almost nude’ and I have to say that I wholeheartedly concur.”
While it might be a while until we can see shots from the campaign, we’re sure it will be worth the wait!
