5 Stylish Instagram Photos You Can Recreate To Look Like A Fashion Pro

Want to pass off as a legit fashionista? Bump your fashion snaps up a notch by taking inspiration and learning a thing or two from some renown fashion bloggers out there. Here are five recurring shots we always see:

1. From head to toe – This is the most basic of shots you can master. Choose backgrounds that wouldn’t drown you and your outfit. This doesn’t only mean plain and boring backgrounds. An eye-catching one would work just as well and it all depends on how balanced your photo is.

Want to look taller? Fake it. Ask your photographer to take the photo from a lower angle. Make sure that the camera is positioned slightly below your waist and angled upwards.

2. The flat lay – Before you lay out your clothes, flowers and cool accessories, learn these tricks. Choose two or three main pieces to display and then complete the photo with little bits and pieces. Make sure your photo has proportion and balance.

Fold your clothes messily and add pops of colour with nail polish or brighter accessories. These flat lay photos look best with white or bright plain backgrounds that would show off the true colour of the products. Don’t have white flooring? Get a large white board from the craft store. Lay out your things near a window as natural lighting works best.

3. From the top – Instead of the entire OOTD, this kind of shot highlights the shoes, bag of choice and accessories in particular. It looks pretty neat, especially if you have a lot of colours and textures going on. If the floor beneath you is pretty, that would be a plus!

With one hand, hold your camera at your chest level facing downwards. Then, tilt the camera slightly towards yourself so you have an angle to work with. Don’t forget to make your other arm look busy by holding onto your shades, showing off your arm party of accessories or holding onto the strap of your bag.

4. Feet only – Most fashion bloggers get an outrageous amount of likes with shots like this. Whether barefoot or with stunning shoes on, the feet or the legs would be the focus. Again, choosing the right background matters a lot, more so if there is a significant ratio of blank space to focal point.

You can also dress up your photo with books or magazines, a cup of tea or coffee, a statement bag and some accessories. The possibilities are endless and it all depends on what you have laying around.

5. Close-up details – Take a look at your head to toe ensemble and figure out which region presents the most interest. It could be your decollate area that is adorned with a statement necklace and shows off the chunky coat you’re wearing, or it could be your ripped and cuffed jeans paired with your edgy heeled boots.

The point here is to capture the details of your OOTD in a tightly cropped frame. Lift your arm up to include those gorgeous accessories!
