Google has launched YouTube Kids, a new Internet service and destination for videos aimed strictly at children.
Available on the iOS and Android for free, it can only be accessed within the U.S. at the moment, but the service will soon be available worldwide.
YouTube Kids limits the world of content on the service to curated, family-friendly videos and educational clips, hence, enabling parents to have their children entertained worry-free.
The app’s interface features large images, colourful icons and carefully curated launch videos on the main page. There are four sections – Shows, Music, Learning and Explore – to use within the app, including timer settings and a search bar.
Anything that is searched on YouTube Kids will automatically be filtered for safe and appropriate content for children. There are also parental controls, including disabling the search completely, limit screen time and cap the volume.
Google has disabled comments on YouTube Kids, but the app will show some kid-friendly ads.
