This year, the Milan Fashion Week is going to be a little bit different from its previous events. For the first time ever, Japan’s most iconic cartoon character, Hello Kitty, is about to showcase her growing up to a beautiful lady.
What are we rambling about? This.
The Hello Kitty brand will be unveiling its first top-end fashion collection! Cited as the “high end and grown up” range of Hello Kitty wear, the collection is a creation of Italian fashion designers who have incorporated the use of crystals, beads, and sequins in its 200-plus pieces stitched in Milan.
Targeted to officially go on sale in 18 stores across Asia and the Middle East (as well as select stores throughout the world) come January 2012, “Pynkiss” will launch Hello Kitty clothing for babies, children, teens, as well as adults. It has also been announced that the prices the adult collection will range from £95 to £195 (RM456 to RM936), while t-shirts will retail from around £28 (RM134). Steep much?
In an exclusive interview, Roberto Lanzi, international licensing director of Sanrio said, “Hello Kitty has been a cultural phenomenon for over 50 years. When we first saw the Pynkiss collections we knew they would be the ideal partner to grant a licence for Hello Kitty’s new high end fashion range.”
Official pieces of Hello Kitty couture? Why not?
One thing’s for sure, she definitely has come a long way since first appearing on a vinyl coin purse in 1974!
