For all you budding social entrepreneurs, this is one program not to be missed!
Recently launched in Malaysia, wave 3 of the Entrepreneurs For Good program is a partnership between Arthur Guinness Projects and British Counci. Aspiring social entrepreneurs will receive mentoring, training, and financial support up to the value of RM360,000.
Now in its third year, Entrepreneurs For Good has so far helped a total of 13 social enterprises across Peninsular and East Malaysia. Previous awardees have been able to effect change in areas as diverse as environmental awareness, healthy eating, poverty alleviation, and the protection of traditional crafts and skills.
Interested parties can learn more about the program and apply to be a part of this year’s contest at the official British Council website. Applications are now open and will run until 9th February 2015.
Throughout the month of January, Guinness and British Council will be hosting a series of roadshows featuring talks and workshops from various industries, including Kal Joffres from social movement group, Tandemic, Chan Ehon from social entrepreneurship group, MaGIC, and alumni from previous years of the Entrepreneurs For Good program.
These roadshows will be held at the following locations across Malaysia:
1. Penang
Date : 17th January 2015
Time : 11.00 am to 2.00 pm
Venue : Chinahouse, Georgetown, Penang
Jazz Tan, past winner of the programme, CEO and Founder of YouthsToday.com will be delivering a talk on “Starting Young with Social Entrepreneurship”. In this talk, Jazz Tan will be sharing how she came up with a sustainable business model and how to platform a scale for global impact.
2. Kuala Lumpur
Date : 22nd January 2015
Time : 2.00 pm to 5.30 pm
Venue : Black Box, Publika Shopping Mall, Hartamas Heights, Kuala Lumpur
Presented during this talk are; Issue-based Problem Solving, Overview of Social Entrepreneurship, Tips & Tricks of Branding and Rocking Your Investor Pitch will be presented by social group MaGIC, advertising group NagaDDB and social movement group, Tandemic, respectively. This roadshow will give guests an overview on what social entrepreneurship really is and how to impress investors for your social business venture.
3. Sarawak

Venue : Sarakraf Pavilion, Kuching, Sarawak
“Social Enterprise and Creative Problem Solving” is a talk by Catriona Maddocks, past winner of the programme and Co-Founder of Catama Borneo. She will speak on the changing nature of global business and the important role social enterprises plays. This talk will explore the problems faced within the world around us and how to develop creative solutions for sustainable businesses that will tackle the problem and address the needs of society.
