As we strive to be a healthy nation, it’s often difficult for us to do so especially when our country is blessed with so much good food. Although these foods have made us proud of our country’s culture, but it is better to consume them moderately for a healthier body. So, in order to maintain a healthy mind and body, we tend to eat a lot of organic foods and products that claim to boost the nutrition in our body. However, in reality, most of the foods are generally low in nutrients and affect our health as they were manufactured and processed in the factory. In fact, a lot of the popular healthy food are surprisingly proven to be unhealthy and causes health problems. So, without further ado, here are the eight so-called healthy foods that you need to avoid.

1. Breakfast Cereal

Our favourite childhood’s breakfast cereal (or maybe just breakfast cereal for all) is not so healthy after all when the vitamins were proven to have artificially added during the processing of the food. Breakfast cereals mostly contain high sugar and high fructose corn syrup which is  genetically modified. GMO corn can affect health in many ways as it can cause cancer and even infertility.

2. Dried Fruit

Even though dried fruit contain fiber, vitamins, and minerals, but most companies added sulfur and sugar to make it better for store shelves. In fact, dried fruit has a tendency to cling to tooth surfaces, causing cavities, and sometimes even gum disease too. So, why not choose orginal fresh fruit instead of the processed fruit?

3. Granola Bars

Granola bars are often known as the healthy food but the fact is it shouldn’t even be in the list of healthy food when it contains high calories and sugar levels. The granola bars also contain all kinds of chemical ingredients and gluten which makes it very difficult for the body to process.

4. Power Bars

Even though it does gives us power and energy at instant, but power bars contain high sugar level and high calories which will makes you gain weight. As they are high in sugar, power bars are actually no different than candy bars.

5. Diet Soda

In no way soda pop is ever good for our body, not even diet soda. There is just nothing healthy about soda and it contains no nutritional value and calories. The high fructose corn syrup sweetener in the diet soda is even worse than having sugar in it. Not only it’s brain damaging, the sweetener was proven to weaken the body’s immune system.

6. Veggie Chips

So you think eating veggie chips instead of potato chips can lead you to a better and healthy lifestyle? Unfortunately, veggie chips are just as bad as potato chips are they are deeply fried in vegetable oil and they are usually high in fat, calories, and salt.

7. Fruit Juice

Fruits are better to be eaten than drinking it as fruit juice. Even though most of the fruit juice companies promote that the juices are 100% organic with non-artificial sugars, but they still add a tad bit of flavour pack to make sure it’s not tasteless. Hence, this is why the juices from one campany taste the came as each company has its own specific chemical mix.

8. Low-Fat Peanut Butter

Don’t be fooled by the word ‘low fat’ in the peanut butter because even though they’ve reduced the fats, the peanut butter still contains a specific amount of sugar. In fact, the monosaturated fats in peanut butter are often replaced by the sugar to make it taste better to consumers.
