We all have a list of places that we would like to visit one day: Greece, Rome, New York, Paris, Rio de Janeiro. All these cities represent what we are today and to see where it all began would be pretty damn phenomenal.

Though if you were to mention Paris, a lot of people (who often have the luxury to travel to wherever whenever they want) will say that it’s crowded and lost its charm. But that shouldn’t put you off wanting to visit the iconic city of love because let’s face it, there really isn’t anywhere you can visit that hasn’t been untouched by visitors. Except for the North Sentinel Islands and unless you want to get stabbed with an arrow, you probably don’t want to go there.

While it’s one of your life’s goals to visit these great cities, why not hold it off and go to some places that aren’t so predictable this year. Make your 2015 count by traveling to these exciting spots:

New Orleans, USA

Everything about this city is unique and it really does stand out from all the other cities in America. A lot of the city’s cultural influence comes from Europe, Africa and the Caribbean, which makes the city and all its food, architecture, music and people one of a kind.

Lofoten Islands, Norway

If you’re into fishing and hiking, this very quaint Norwegian town is a perfect spot for you to visit. Of course, Lofoten Islands also has some insane sceneries that you could take in. Imagine all the Instagram shots you can take.

Reykjavik, Iceland

Despite what you may think, there’s a lot to do in Reykjavik. If you’re not going to indulge in the wonderful landscapes then there is plenty of shopping to do and if art is your thing, Reykjavik has plenty of museums and galleries that are open all year-round. Don’t forget to treat your tastebuds to the delicious cuisine that is available.

Beirut, Lebanon

Despite being in the Middle East, Beirut is one of the most cosmopolitan cities around. It’s been dubbed as the “Paris of the Middle East” and is supposed to be a superb place to eat, party and explore.

Kathmandu, Nepal

There are loads of things to do in Kathmandu, and while it’s a favourite spot for loads of backpackers, there are still a lot of the city that’s completely untouched by foreigners. Head to Thamel and spend some cash attractive things and eating delicious food!

Big Sur, California

If the breathtaking image above is not enough to convince you then I am not quite sure what will. It’s quite surreal to watch the waves crashing against the rocks in Big Sur, and it’s definitely a wonderful place to wind down, go camping or even a hike!

Freetown Christiana, Denmark

If you’re into peace, love and harmony, you might want to consider visiting Freetown Christiana. It’s a city within a city and it’s a colourful as well as a very artsy place. You can also smoke weed in most places here. Not that we are encouraging you to!

Lake Garda, Italy

Lake Garda is beautiful and located in Northern Italy. It’s also the largest lake in Italy, making it a very popular place to swim. While you’re basking in the Italian lake, you can also admire the views around you. Once you’re done with that, you can reward yourself with amazing Italian cuisine.

Tulum, Mexico

Beaches located next to a Mayan ruin? Do you need anymore of a reason to stay? Tulum is paradise and one should make it a point to visit it at least once in their lives!
