Hong Kong is undoubtedly one of Asia’s top destinations and thanks to TLC’s latest three-part series My Taste of Hong Kong, viewers can embark on a food journey and experience the vibrant and versatile lifestyle of this metropolis.
My Taste of Hong Kong is a collaboration between the Hong Kong Tourism Board and Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific. This food-centric program features Michelle Loo, one of Hong Kong’s veteran entertainment writer and avid foodie who will play host to visiting chefs from South East Asia.
There are six rising chefs who will re-create some of Hong Kong’s best dishes and eat their way through Hong Kong. They are Anis Nabilah (Malaysia), Brandon Foo (Singapore), Shen Tan (Singapore), Arnold Poernomo (Indonesia), Edwin Lau (Indonesia) and Duangporn ‘Bo’ Songvisava (Thailand).
My Taste of Hong Kong is an extension of HKTB’s latest “My Time For…” campaign which offers consumer insights and new trends on what enthusiastic travelers look forward to during their travels.
Mr Simon Wong, HKTB Regional Director of Southeast Asia said, “The HKTB campaign highlights moments, emotions, and experiences which visitors can expect when they visit the city. We want our visitors to know, see and feel that a trip to Hong Kong never disappoints, and always gives you a wonderful experience that leaves you with a great story to tell. We illustrate these experiences by going deeper to uncover unique insights to show fun and authentic experiences through the eyes of local experts. With the launch of the campaign, HKTB partnered with key opinion leaders worldwide from every walk of life to spread the words for Hong Kong.”
“Malaysia has always been one of the important Southeast Asian source markets for Hong Kong. By collaborating with TLC, we hope to bring more excitement on Hong Kong to Malaysians, especially through the unique first-hand experiences of their up and coming local chef,” said Wong.
As for Malaysian chef Anis Nabilah, who was present at the media preview held at Carcosa Seri Negara yesterday, the energetic city completely took her breath away.
“My first encounter with Hong Kong blew whatever perceptions I had of this bustling city! I was pleasantly surprised to see its rich cultural diversities both traditional and modern co-existing harmoniously! Hong Kong food to me, personifies the flavours of its people – the different clans, dialects, regions they’re from.”
My Taste of Hong Kong premieres every Tuesday, 20 January on TLC at 10pm (SIN/HK). Encores every Wednesday at 2pm, Thursday at 7pm and Sunday at 7.30pm.
