BritishIndia has recently unveiled a charity concept store called the White Elephant. The charity arm of BritishIndia opened its doors at Publika Solaris Dutamas to a hive of activity and warm reception from bargain hunters on November 22nd.
With pretty white rattan bird cages, faux trees and old-style rattan chests lending a cheerful and inspiring reminder to respect nature and be kind to the environment, the store exudes a slightly rustic but youthful charm with colourful elephant art on walls and dressing room curtains.
Spanning 1,400 square feet, White Elephant, Retail for Charity, a joint CSR project with UEM Sunrise, the leasing partner and owner of Publika is a treasure trove of unexpected bargains.
“White Elephant is a special venue and shoppers’ haven as we sell a plethora of goods from inventory samples and production over-runs from BritishIndia as well as other well-known clothing brands to eclectic merchandise such as books, toys, sports equipment, musical instruments, kitchenware, stationery, hobbycraft, small furniture, objets d’art, curiosities and paraphernalia, donated by the expatriate and local community,” explains Pat Liew, Founder of White Elephant and BritishIndia.
