If you didn’t already know, the four-piece British rock band, Bastille, was in Kuala Lumpur over the weekend to perform at KL Live. Thanks to Upfront Arena, the boys, Dan Smith, Kyle Simmons, Will Farquarson and Chris Wood, got the fans going crazy with their chart-topping singles such as “Pompeii”, “Things We Lost In The Fire” and “Of The Night”.
Before Bastille got on stage, local indie DJs Indiego & Co entertained the crowd with their quirky mix of indie music, nu disco and rock & roll. Some were seen grooving to the music and others also sang along.
Opening with “Bad Blood”, Bastille performed a total of 19 tracks that night, including some acoustics. Everything, from the vocals and percussions to the drums and keyboards, sounded clear, crisp and on point, especially when the band performed a few tracks unplugged. We really didn’t expect Bastille to sound that good live.
When the band performed “Flaws”, frontman Dan Smith electrified the crowd even further by getting off stage to sing amidst fans. Of course, there were bodyguards all around, but that didn’t stop fans from trying to reach out to him.
There is really nothing to dislike. Each and every one of the Bastille boys are full of talent, good looking and their music is nothing short of outstanding. Give Bastille a listen and you’ll find that there is something for everyone. We especially dig the lyrics.
