A couple of weeks ago, we were at the Grand Finale of the Magnum Gold Pursuit grand finale, where the open-to-public contest came to a nail-biting finish. How did it all started? Anyone who purchased a Magnum ice cream that had a 13 digit alphanumeric code found on the ice cream stick would be in the running to win a BMW 3 Series as the Grand Prize while the top 10 would be rewarded with a Magnum Gold coin. To compete and stand a chance to win the BMW 3 Series, pleasure seekers had to participate in the online vault game. 20 scorers from the online game would then advance to compete for the Grand Prize at the finale.
At the Grand Finale – which was held at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Center – 2o finalists had to go through 3 stages of individual mind and physical games and time was their enemy. The concept of the challenge was “The Greatest Heist in History” where contestants had to break into the Magnum Gold Vault. First, a blueprint puzzle was to be completed that would lead to a secret code that will enable them to unlock a door, allowing them to move on the Stage 2.
Only 10 finalists made it to the second stage where they each had to deactivate a bomb (it’s fake of course!). Out of the 10, three contestants made it to the final stage where they were required to unlock the Magnum Golden Vault to win the ultimate prize – the BMW 3 Series!
After a few tries, the chase came to a close when Mr. Fung Yoke Yan decoded the vault with a four-digit code, 4260 which also represents a total of 4 million and 260 thousands sticks of Magnum ice cream.
Mr. Shawn Tan, Category Head (Ice Cream) of Unilever (Malaysia) Holdings Sdn Bhd presented the grand prize winner with the key to the car and a 2gm Magnum Gold Coin of 99.9% purity to the other finalists.
