Everyone has heard of SK-II and the brand’s Facial Treatment Essence is sworn by women and men worldwide for its ability to give you glowing, clear skin. In conjunction with the holiday season, SK-II has come up with a Miracle in a Bottle set that has a full size cleanser (120g) and large bottle of the iconic Facial Treatment Essence (215ml) in a limited edition design. I got my set from Luxola and I have been using this duo for the last three weeks.

My SK-II Miracle in a Bottle set experience:
The Gentle Cleanser –
The cleanser is a large, generous tube – in fact, this entire set is incredibly good value-for-money given the size of the products – and I use it after my makeup remover. A little goes a long way so all you need is a tiny squeeze of this almost mousse-like, white foam. Upon contact with water, it lathers up really well into a fine texture just like the description above. The cleanser has a really enjoyable feel and it provides my skin with a thorough cleanse. It’s one of those cleansers that does the job very well without any tightness after washing and rinses without any soapy residue. What I like about it apart from its texture is the soft, rose petal scent that induces a sense of calm during my daily cleansing ritual. After washing, my skin feels comfortable and supple and it seems to balance my combination skin rather well. All in all, this cleanser is easily one of the best I’ve ever used.
The Facial Treatment Essence –
The FTE is a clear, water-like liquid that’s meant to be applied on your skin with dabbing motions using your hands or dispensed onto a cotton pad and dabbed all over your face. This is done right after cleansing, before the toning step. I choose to apply the essence with my hands (I use approximately three dashes and it’s more than enough) to avoid wastage. If you choose to use a cotton pad, don’t discard the pad after you’re done with your face – you can use it on your elbows to remove dead skin cells as well as place it under your eyes for mini eye treatment. The essence is gentle enough to be applied on the eye area which is always a plus in my opinion!
It does have a rather strange fermented smell but it goes away the minute the essence is absorbed into your skin. I must admit, prior to starting this regime I was a little anxious mainly because of the many outcomes I’ve heard surrounding the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence, also commonly referred to as miracle water. While some users have no effects from using this the first time, first timers are often warned about the ‘purging’ stage, where some individuals experience a mild breakout within the first few days of using the FTE. However, this is perfectly normal and will last between two to three weeks which by then, you should be able to see a difference in your skin. I did experience a mild breakout – I had two rather large pimples that surfaced a couple of days after I started using the miracle water. I have not had any breakouts since and I thoroughly enjoy using the miracle water. My skin seems to be clearer, brighter, less oily, more hydrated and at only the third week, I think the results are pretty promising and I will definitely continue using this set.
Why it’s worth trying:
SK-II products don’t come cheap and not knowing whether it will work for you might hold one back from splurging. Which is why, this SK-II Miracle in a Bottle set from Luxola is quite a bargain. The cleanser on its own costs RM213.50 while the 215ml miracle water will set you back RM559. This set however, retails for RM559 at the moment which technically means you get the cleanser for free. It also makes for a wonderful gift for any loved ones who swear by SK-II. Plus, the limited edition bottle design is one-of-a-kind, making it a great collector’s item. Also, Luxola’s shipping service is speedy and efficient, making it a fabulous place to shop for last minute gifts!
