It’s the new year and boy do we have some good looking chaps this time around! Kicking off this year and joining our sizzling list of Man Of The Week, here is the delightful and charming Aizat Zainuddin:

Name: Aizat Zainuddin

Age: 27

Occupation: Full-time producer (SMNKYS! – short for Shrieking Monkeys Productions), Part-time barista (Podgy & The Banker +) & radio announcer (Fly.FM – currently in training)

Tell us a little bit about yourself, what you do etc.

My name is Aizat. I love talking to people but I can be an awkward turtle at times. I’m a movie buff and I love speaking different languages but I never got around to learning them… so I just resort to speaking in different slangs.

What about a woman do you find to be the biggest turn off?

Arrogance and lack of personality. But, if I had to pick one? I’d rather have a girl be “all up in my face” than have no personality at all.

If you had to, which would you give up, food or sex?

Definitely sex. I can’t live without lasagne!

What do you think of the current coffee scene in KL?

Coffee’s been around since the 13th century, but as a Malaysian I would say we’re still a fairly new market when it comes to coffee, but I can already see a lot of cafes sprouting everywhere, each with their own signature blends of coffee. For many, it’s not just the coffee, but the lifestyle that comes with it. Perhaps you can say we’ve outgrown the days of going to ‘mamaks’ and the notion of lepak. I see our society slowly but surely becoming more refined as this commodity becomes even more prominent in our daily lives. It’s all a test of time and the survival of the fittest, but healthy competition and collaboration at best. As the community of coffee connoisseurs become even larger, so will the demand of coffee and its lifestyle.

What do you love most about your job?

It’s a mixture of things I guess, since I’m juggling three different things at the moment. While working at the Podgy+ (cafe), I get to make my own coffee and also think about crazy ideas for my production house. In terms of radio, I’ve always wanted to be a voice for the people, so why not do it on a mass level? I’m constantly learning new ways to make the perfect cup, constantly churning out ideas and loving every bit of radio, it makes my life a little more interesting and fun.

What is about a girl that you love the most?

Dimples. They are my kryptonite.

Tell us something about you that not most of your friends know about.

My brother and I have our own dialect of English that we only use with each other. We still do that till today.

Do you have a weird habit?

There are two phases for me when I eat nuggets. I nibble the skin first, and then I attack the rest of the nugget after.

Who would you rather co-host with – Sasha Grey or Your Mum?

Is that a trick question? I’m a momma’s boy, so I would pick my mom over many other things too!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Winning the Academy Award.
