Jessie J – Sweet Talker
So, Jessie J announced that she was permanently moving to Los Angeles because the British did not appreciate her voice. So, off she went and she recorded her third album Sweet Talker along with The Dream, Diplo, Tricky Stewart, Max Martin and a few others. This album has appearances by Ariana Grande, Nicky Minaj, De La Soul, just to name a few. Basically, I think it is Jessie’s best. It’s fizzy pop sound makes you feel good!
Best track: Bang Bang feat. Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj
Sheppard – Bombs Away
Sheppard has quickly become one of the most prominent indie-pop groups Australia and the world has seen. Their debut album Bombs Away is sure to take them places in the music industry. Personally, I am not that into indie-pop but this album had a surprising effect on me. Bombs Away also showcases just how talented each member of the band is and while ‘Geronimo’ got them noticed and could be easily called one of THE tracks of the year, I would say that ‘Something’s Missing’ is a definite favourite. This album is seriously enjoyable and you need to get your hands on it now!
Best track: Something’s Missing
U2 – Songs of Innocence
The thirteenth studio album by U2 is probably their most personal album yet and that should be more than a good enough reason for you to get your hands on it. If you don’t already have iTunes then you might want to get this on your own free will.
Best Song: Iris (Hold Me Close)
Chvrches – The Bones Of What You Believe
The debut album for Scottish trio Chvrches is just great. It’s got the perfect blend of pop, electronic and synth music genre. By listening to the album you can tell that the influence came from some 80s music and if you have seen them live, you will know that they sound damn good. The production is flawless and the album is enjoyable to listen to.
Best track: Science/Visions
Taylor Swift – 1989
Tay Tay is back with her fifth studio album called 1989 and it’s very clear to see that she has left country music behind. With this pop album that’s produced by Swift herself and Max Martin, she is giving the likes of Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus a run for their money. Because even if you are not a Swift fan, you have got to admit that her songs are catchy and she’s not a bad songwriter at all.
Best track: Blank Space
