Plastic surgery is so common in South Korea, I hear they are giving it as gifts for teenagers’ sixteenth birthday. And it’s not just the South Koreans that are getting work done because there are people flying in from all over the world, especially from China to get an extreme makeover.
“The extensive surgery they are opting for transforms not just their features, but their entire faces, rendering them almost unrecognizable,” a representative at the Chinese news and photo agency CEN, told Cosmopolitan.com.
However, one little problem arises after getting work done. They have trouble getting back home. Flying in, they are the spitting image of their passport photos but as they want to leave, the changes are so drastic that they are almost unrecognizable! This has resulted in some hospitals giving out “plastic surgery certificates”, which helps them get through customs.
According to the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, 1 out of every 77 people in South Korea have plastic surgery to “better” their looks and a lot of these women always request for a more “Western” look.
