If you’re partying at Zouk every Friday and Saturday night, you might have definitely seen this chap around.
This round for Lipstiq’s Man Of The Week, we have a guy who is super friendly with an impressive collection of tattoos, oh and ladies, he cooks a pretty mean pasta dish too. This man is none other than John Paul.
Name: John Paul
Age: 30
Occupation: Public Relations Consultant
Tell us a little bit about yourself, what you do etc.
Hi! My name is John Paul (its an actual name and not a pick up line), I am of Baba-Nyonya, Indonesian and Chinese descent and my parents are Catholics, hence where the name came about. I work as a PR Consultant for some interesting brands around town. I’m pretty active in the entertainment/media scene and I’m also pretty active outdoors as well. In between the busy work schedule I take time to travel and do as much outdoor activities as I can; golf, volleyball, indoor football, badminton, fishing and hiking are a few of them. When overseas and when the waves aren’t too high, I fancy surfing quite abit. Funny, though I can’t really swim and will just end up holding on to the surfboard to my dear life. (Laughs) Also, music is life, so don’t be surprised if you see me dancing the night away, locally and music festivals abroad.
What about a woman do you find to be the biggest turn off?
My biggest turn off I find in a woman is; burping. She can fart (just not in the car) but she can’t burp. (Laughs) Don’t ask me why. Armpit hair is a pretty big turn off and also, I’d like a girl who can dress to the occasion. On a casual day out, she comes out rocking in a aviator shade, spag strap/tank top and jeans, I’ll be swoon over and be on my knees.
If you had to, which would you give up, food or sex?
SUCH A DIFFICULT QUESTION! (Laughs) ……But to be honest, I’d give up sex. Because good food can lead up to sex. Breakfast in bed?
What do you think of the current party scene in kl?
Time have left the local party scene to the young ones who don’t bother to dress up nor act responsible/proper when in the scene. Gone are the days where people are so much more courteous and don’t mind just joining in the fun.
What do you love most about your job?
The satisfaction you get when your ideas are well received, seeing the final product in the flesh and ideas being picked by the public easily. Work isn’t easy and often enough it requires one to work past the wee hours of the morning just to come out with a single idea. but after those few hours of struggling, you’re presented with a piece of material which you are proud off. I love that drive and I love the satisfaction it brings when my ideas are well received. And even if its not that good, the drive would always keep me going to come out with something better. =)
What is about a girl that you love the most?
Cliche to most and often heard, people like simple people. And most people claim they’re simple. But guess what?! NEVER is someone that simple! Lols. simplicity to me is/are: waking up on the weekend afternoons and treating your girl to a decent banana leaf lunch at her favourite shop. A girl who’d know the best cheap eats around town, a girl who isn’t shy to suggest on where to eat/dine/go and a girl who isn’t afraid of speaking up. She doesn’t have to know how to cook, but a little passion in the kitchen and in food helps. Also a girl who is supportive of what I do, though sometimes i might not take enough time out to spend with her and a girl who sees past my exterior. Those are a little about the qualities I love most about a girl and that to me is simplistic enough.
Notice that most of the above revolves around food. But that’s what I believe gets to a woman’s heart. It isn’t the places you go/dine together, but the time spent at those places. Everything has a story and every story deserves to be told.
Tell us something about you that not most of your friends know about.
Urghh. That’s a tough one. Maybe you could say I’m the only ‘cina’ you know who can somewhat dance. Haha
Who would you rather have a twerking session with – Miley Cyrus or Nicki Minaj?
Nicki Minaj! Cause, she got a** girl. lol
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Having a stable career in PR and advertising. Married to a beautiful wife (some help needed here currently), a nice decent house with a small courtyard with flowers, greens and herbs, a dog kennel, and my baby jack russell named Whiskey.
