They say the best way to see the world is to travel alone because you really get to experience some of the world’s wonders without the influence of friends or partners.
Despite what you may think, solo traveling can be very enjoyable. You can do whatever your heart desires, may it be reading a book at some café or lingering around a city. You can even hire a guide or join a group of other solo travelers and no one will judge you. It’s your call! Of course, there are still concerns for those who want to travel on their own. But after the main concern of solo traveling, which is safety, the other worry is picking a country. Well, don’t worry because we have made a list of 6 countries you should definitely travel alone to.
Switzerland
This country is one of the most visited countries in the world, especially during winter time. Known as a place where people mind their own business, this is one country that is a perfect destination for solo travelers. Indulge in the beautiful landscape while eating decadent Swiss chocolate, the country is yours to see. If you’re looking for something more upbeat, head to Lake Geneva and enjoy the bistros and nightlife that it has to offer.
Japan
Ranked eighth safest country in the world, there is plenty to do in this Asian country. You can spend a few days in modern Tokyo and be amazed by the lifestyle people lead before hopping on a bullet train, which will pass Mount Fuji before reaching tranquil Kyoto. While in Kyoto, where it’s the complete opposite of the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, you can do plenty. There’s a communal hot spring bath and if you’re into it, you can even meditate in a Zen garden.
Indonesia
My list would not be complete if it didn’t include Indonesia and when I say Indonesia, I’m specifically referring to Bali. There are so many great things about this place like the temples, yoga retreats, and incredibly delicious and cheap food. While Bali is a little touristy, Lombok is more chilled out and only a 25-minute flight away and it will give you a taste of what Indonesia was like in the 1970s.
Canada
If you’re traveling solo to the second largest country in the world, you should probably focus on each of its cities. Vancouver, which is tucked between water and mountains has plenty of delicious Asian cuisine to offer. Montreal is known for it’s bar scene and French way of life. There are also smaller cities like Halifax and Nova Scotia where you can go sea kayaking!
Panama
For those who come to visit Panama, they usually seek an adventurous kind of traveling and that’s exactly what they will get. You can whitewater raft on the Chiriquí and Chiriquí Viejo rivers and if you’re looking for some Carribean vibe, head to Bocas del Toro, where the surfing culture is growing and the nightlife is so tempting.
Netherlands
I think you have definitely got to make it a point to visit Netherlands at least once in your life. Known as one of the most laid-back city and one that has some of the most accepting people in Europe, Amsterdam is filled with canals and bikers. It’s easy to get lost while traveling solo in this country but it will not be a bad thing as there are plenty of activities for you to get lost into.
