Buns and rolls (we’re not talking pastry), bobs and ponytails, big hair, teased hair, all lengths and cuts (we’re not talking uhm..butchery), colours and styles are all rage this year. But not all of us have the luxury of a personal hairstylist at our expense.
However, we do have some Spring-Summer 2011 hairstyle guides that you can take with you to your favourite salon if you’re looking to change your look. And yes, Spring-Summer 2011 applies especially to us because, summer? That’s basically our season (and the only one) all year round!
1. Bob
If you’re willing enough to chop off your long locks, then ride on the rage of the classic bob. This time around, try fashioning it in a different way (in tune with Spring-Summer 2011 styles). Tell your hairstylist that you want to try something more asymmetrical – one side longer than the other or raise the back and lower the front. You can mix the lengths, add volume with layers, or stick to that one length. Just remember to tailor it according to your face shape because not everyone can carry it off.
2. Fringe
The fringe has been around for as long as we can remember and it’s making a comeback this year. It can either add elegance or make a bold statement depending on how it’s done (or cut). The Spring-Summer 2011 variations of fringe cuts are such as soft and wispy fringes, choppy edges, or strong, bold lines regardless of the length of the rest of your hair. It can either go above your eye line or brought forward to cover your eyes slightly.
3. Layers
Remember the “Rachel Green” cut? Believe it or not, it has been around since 1994! Talk about evergreen. And it remains a “hair fashion icon” simply because it’s one of the easiest to maintain (also, perfect for that “just out of bed” look). This natural look is the easiest to recreate because you have the freedom to play with the lengths of layers and light textures. Heck, you can even add subtle highlights to enhance the layers. We’ll leave it up to you.
Go experiment with your hair and see what a big difference it can make to your overall appearance. If all else fails, don’t tear your hair out! Just remember that hair will grow. Have fun!
